Health First Aid
WHO IS THE YOUTH MHFA COURSE SUITED TO?
The 12-14-hour accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid Course is designed specifically for adults who live, care and work with adolescents. You may be a parent, teacher, sports coach, youth and community workers or educator who is looking to undertake or upskill your mental health training in this area.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
You will learn how to assist an adolescent who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence based action plan.
In Australia, it is estimated that untreated mental health conditions cost our workplaces approximately $10.9 billion per year in relation to work related mental stress and leave. Therefore, we recommend more companies explore modern and effective mental health strategies to ensure that you can address any mental health issues that may arise in your place of work.

- risk factors involved

Why undertake the Youth MHFA course?
Evaluations consistently show that Mental Health First Aid training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increase in help provided over time.
How is the Youth MHFA Course delivered?
The first component is an e-learning component through MHFA and takes around 3-4 hours to complete.
This e-learning component does not need to be completed in one sitting and you can save your work and come back to it to pace out the learning. This will be uploaded onto the MHFA website for participants by the end of this week and we will contact you with details around how to access it.
Part 2)
Once you have completed the eLearning component and have a certificate of completion you are then required to attend 3 x Instructor led sessions through video-conferencing (Zoom) which will each be 2.5 hours.
You must complete all e-learning and attend both online classes to obtain accreditation.
Do you already have an eLearning voucher? If so, the cost of the course with the Zoom sessions only is $250 + GST
The full cost of the full course with eLearning vouchers provided is $300 + GST per attendee which includes a $88 payment to MHFA to access e-learning and an official manual.
